The world’s tallest metro station on Dubai’s Blue Line, Emaar station will stand at a height of 74 metres

Emaar Properties Station will serve as both a gateway to Dubai Creek Harbour and a global benchmark in transit design

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has unveiled details about the new Emaar metro station on the upcoming Blue Line, which will serve the Dubai Creek Tower and surrounding developments.

According to a map and project model displayed at the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF), the station will be located right next to the Dubai Creek South District and connected by a glass pedestrian walkway, similar to the Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa Metro Station. It is designed to be the world’s highest metro station, standing at 74 metres.

Inspired by the waterway of Dubai Creek, the station features a mirrored set of walls at staggering heights to evoke the rhythm of traditional waterfront architecture. The structure is organised into three levels- ground, concourse, and platform. Each floor will feature a range of facilities and retail amenities to enhance the commuter experience.

Measuring 38 metres in width, the Emaar Metro station covers an area of 11,000 square metres. The model shows that the station will have an expansive area around it for public seating, cafes, and open green spaces.

The station will also offer bicycle parking and will be integrated with the public transport system to make travel seamless for metro users. A unique feature is a large solar panel grid on the side of the structure, which is expected to power the metro station.

The interiors are designed to convey warmth and permanence, with overhead glass panels providing abundant natural light at the lobby and platform levels. This approach delivers a premium transit experience that combines functionality with timeless architectural elegance in Dubai Metro Station.

Located at the heart of the bustling Dubai Creek Harbour, the station will have the capacity to handle 160,000 passengers a day. The final station is expected to be completed and opened in 2029 as part of the metro’s blue line, which will serve several communities, including Al Warqaa, Mirdif, Dubai International City, Silicon Oasis, and Academic City.

In June last year, it was revealed that the creative minds behind the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa, also designed the world’s highest station. The renowned American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) have also designed the Olympic Tower in New York, and the Sears Tower in Chicago.

Earlier, it was announced that the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station will be expanded to increase its passenger capacity by 65 per cent, easing pressure during peak periods such as New Year’s Eve and major holidays.
