Dubai’s plan for affordable housing project for working professionals takes off

The initiative is a key part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan

Dubai’s plan to develop more than 17,000 residential units for working professionals in both the public and private sectors, has taken off with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Municipality and Wasl Group signing an agreement on Tuesday, May 20.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, had on March 12, approved the allocation of land for the project.

The first phase of the project will cover six areas across Dubai, spanning a total area of 1.46 million square metres. The first phase will develop six sites in Al Mueisim 1, Al Twar 1, Al Qusais Industrial 5, and Al Leyan 1.

“Our goal is to offer quality housing that improves living standards for Dubai’s workforce and strengthens its status as one of the world’s best cities to live and work,” Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said in a post on X on Tuesday.

The new residential units will be offered at affordable rental rates, featuring thoughtfully designed, high-quality living spaces with access to key infrastructure and essential services.

The initiative aims to develop more vibrant communities, support economic growth, create jobs, and improve access to quality housing and essential services for residents of all incomes.

The initiative is part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
